Hi, I’m Gabrielle Johansen, LICSW, ESMHL.
I am the owner and primary practitioner at Reins of Heart Wellness Center, PLLC and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social worker (LICSW) in the state of Vermont. I received my Bachelors in Social Work (BSW) in 2012, where I maintained a President’s list GPA of 3.86, was elected by my peers as a student representative on the Social Work Advisory Board, and was inducted into the National Honor Society of Social Workers Phi Alpha, Iota ROE chapter. I then went on to accept a full academic scholarship to attend Boston University’s Advanced Standing Masters of Social Work (MSW) program, and was graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2013. During my studies in Boston, I interned at the prestigious Spaulding Hospital Cambridge as a clinical intern where I gained valuable experience working in a long-term acute care medical setting. I went on to accept my first job in the suburbs of Boston as an outpatient therapist, providing children and adults with psychotherapy both in their homes and in an office setting. I proceeded to move back to my quaint hometown in Vermont, where I accepted a position working as a School Services Clinician in a public school setting. I have in-depth experience utilizing many different treatment methods and therapeutic modules linked to evidence based practices. I am skilled in creating appropriate and beneficial treatment plans and performing thorough clinical assessment, and diagnosis. As an avid horsewoman, and with over twenty years of experience working with, caring for, and showing horses and ponies in a professional manner, I knew it was time to connect my love for horses with my love for healing and guiding clients on their journeys. In the summer of 2021, I completed my certification resulting in my Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL) certificate and credential. I work with children and adults and am thrilled to be offering Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) in a safe, calm, and tranquil environment. I reside locally with my two young children and our Bernese Mountain Dog.
